Seung-ho Yoo's Yoochihan show
Artontv Journalist
Elisa Kang

Last Friday(7/9),  we went to Seung-ho Yoo's Yoochihan show. He is well known for his Korean picture painting of letters. Yet, in this show, he tried something new.

Q: Paintings look quite different from your previous works. Why did you decided to do something differnt?
A: I guess you are talking about my Koran picture paintings of letters. Yes, these may seem different from them in color. However, they all start from same concept. My works are all based on letters. Wheat you could notice in my current works are that they start from dot to letter and then become a letter. Maybe you could even say these works displayed here are thought out beforehand since these works start from dots and Korean painting start from letters.

Q: Your show title, Yoochihan seem very unique, what exactly does it mean?
A: Humm.. the title is Korean and it has many meanings. Literally it means, thinks like a child. However, since my last name is Yoo, I just added a word chi-han. Also, in Korean, the word means, prepare everything to do something. Also, it could mean Yoo(Yoo), chi-han(pervert in English)! oh, wasn't it funny? (he laughted nervously) Anyway, I am basically playing with words here.

Mr. Yoo was a modest yet funny artist. Since we visited gallery Plant right before the exhibition opening ceremony, people were quite busy walking around. We thank Mr. Yoo for doing his best for the interview and hope he achieves what he wished in this show.
