On last Friday(6/25), we've visited young artist, Chaegang Jeon at Gallery Hyundai 16 bungee. From the basement to the second floor, various paintings were displayed. Finding the hidden picture or letter in each of them were quite interesting. The pictures on the second floor were surely foriegn scenery yet they had Korean letters or Korean apartment in the background. She seemed a little nervous in front of the camera, but she did the interview in a punctual manner. Here I state the part that are missing from the video on Art on View.
Q: Could you introduce the exhibition? A: I researched the scene using specific keywords and combined and re-edit the pictures to reflect the fear and anxiety that this generation is going through. This is the exhibition of those artworks.
Q: It's quite interesting to see your exhibition today since you graduated university last year. Were there any specific things you've done to be here? A: Well, first of all, I am very thankful to be in this spot. I guess keep on working no matter what happened has led me here. I think luck had played its part for me to stand here. (she smiled) There are many more steps I need to take though.
Q: If there's any, could you give some tips to the current art students? A: Keep on working, yet do the work that represent you. Say something in your work. no body knows, maybe you'll get a chance earlier than you thought :)
